New service – “UMC CHAT ”! Communication in on-line mode
Your favorite chat, which you could use only through a computer previously, is from now on accessible through your mobile telephone!
UMC CHAT is a new service for UMC and SIM-SIM subscribers that gives you an opportunity to communicate in on-line mode.
UMC Chat gives you unique opportunities:

communicating in on-line mode with your friends and acquaintances through GPRS;

comfortable connection to chat with several interlocutors, for example, if you are going to the cinema and would like to set a collective meeting;
-
to send messages to ICQ users;
-
a comfortable system to search for other service users;
-
determination of users’ presence (“Online”, “Offline”, “Do not disturb”, etc.);
-
creation of contact lists and user groups;
-
receiving SMS notifications on chat messages sent from other users when you were absent during the chat.
In an order to start using the service “UMC CHAT”, you only need to do 3 easy steps:
1. Checking if your telephone supports the technologies WAP, GPRS/EDGE and whether it has the in-built function of transmitting instant messages: whether in the phone menu you have the services such as “Instant Messaging”, “Chat”, “My Friends”.
The service “UMC Chat” is supported by the followings models of phones:

For the models of phones that do not have the built-in chat technology, you will be able to download a special Java application (wap.umc.ua/chat) through WAP.
The list of phones through which it is possible to use the “UMC CHAT” service with the help of the Java application:
Nokia: 2650, 2652, 3100, 3120, 3200, 3220, 3300, 5100, 5140, 6100, 6220, 6230, 6610, 6610i, 6800, 6810, 6820, 7200, 7210, 7250, 7250i.
3. Setting the service in your phone.
Attention! For correctly using the service, you need to activate and set the WAP service for your phone. For automatic setting of the service, you need to send a free SMS message to number 1021070.
If your phone does not support the automatic setting function, you may set the service manually:
In settings of the “Chat” service in your phone, create a new profile with the followings parameters for using the service:

After this, the file created must be registered by default.
How to use the “UMC CHAT” service:
1) Starting work:
To start using the service, you need to:

Launch the “Chat” software in your phone

Enter the user name and password that you indicated at registration
2) Search and adding contacts to the UMC CHAT contact list:
Search of contacts can be carried out by means of:

Web site (on condition that you are registered)
-
WAP-portal of “UMC CHAT” service (wap.umc.ua/chat)

Directly from the chat software in your phone
3) Adding ICQ contacts.

There exist contact lists of two types: lists of UMC CHAT and lists of ICQ. It is possible to add contacts of ICQ users from a mobile phone only into the lists of UMC CHAT. In order to add an ICQ contact, select the contacts list of UMC CHAT. Upon addition of a contact, enter the ICQ-UIN user number and the login for saving. For an ICQ-UIN added from a mobile phone, information on presence (online/offline) is not supported.

Add an ICQ contact with the help of your ICQ software. An ICQ-UIN contact added in this way will be accessible in the chat at another entrance into the UMC CHAT system from your mobile.
4) Creation of a group chat.
To create a whole chat group (on condition that this function is supported by your phone), create a new group right in the “Chat” menu following menu prompts in your telephone and add/invite users to the group.
Tariffs for the “UMC CHAT” service:
GPRS WAP: upon choosing to use the service, you pay for the WAP service in accordance with tariffs of your tariff package.
